Orange you glad you missed my birthday!

Eh, ghads.
Bodum.
There they go again with their fancy colored tea kettles. Not to mention the orange rubberized juice glasses. Ugh, kill me now...
Why? Because I can't help it. I have this thing for orange (and red and pink and green and black and specific colors of blue) and it makes me want to buy it- no matter that I've already got one whole room chock full of orange jibber jabber and 3 goddamn juicers; not one of them orange, mind you... therein lies the rub.

Yeti sighting!

I've been working on a Yeti tee shirt for my friend Shae. It's a birthday present (FYI his birthday was October, 26th... oops) but French knots  take a little bit longer than your average embroidery stitch. And Yetis, not that I've ever seen one, are some furry bitches... supposedly. The problem is that I ran out of one of the colors of embroidery thread and now my Yeti looks like he's wearing Uggs.

Praise be Jesus!

And Lord have mercy!
When did it get so flipping hot in Massachusetts? I've been told that Northampton is in a "bowl" which is why it gets really hot and dang humid.
I say that and then I think, waitjustasecond- this is wussy Massauchusetts' "hot and humid". Massachusetts where more than once I have been charged for iced tea refills... can you imagine? Quelle horreur!

These were a few of my favorite things.

From birth until I was 10 years old I grew up in Lexington, Kentucky. After that I spent two years in Corbin, Kentucky... home of the Colonel Sanders. Lest you are confused he is the Legendary Colonel of the Kentucky Fried Chicken.
In the summers before our move to Corbin my father would take me out to get banana splits from the local Dairy Queen. Soft serve, vanilla only with three bright and syrupy flavor toppings- strawberry, pineapple, and chocolate. Whipped cream with one cherry, I don't remember any sprinkles... and I think I would remember sprinkles.

Gettin' jiggy wit it

Today was the second day I helped out at El Jardin. Moving stuff around, cleaning and general Swissing. I like to Swiss things. A lot. perhaps I should explain that Swissing is a term I did not come up with, but one that I've kept alive because I like it so much. When I lived in Prescott, Arizona my friend Clay would come over to my house after I returned from a summer(s) in Provincetown... with butt loads of fancy hair and skin products. He'd burst in through my front door and say, "Let's get Swiss!" This was a good ten years before the godawful term "metrosexual" got bantered about on a daily basis, seriously, ad fucking nauseam.
Anyway- I'm ALSO bringing the cupcake (!) to Northampton and I, for one, cannot wait!

Pillow Talk!

I've been making pillows lately- to try and use up some of the fabric, clothes and random scraps that I've been carting around. At a time when I should have been downsizing my belongings Repro Depot had a fabric free-for-all. My friend Søren and I (after emptying the back of my truck in my storage unit) filled it back up with bolt after bolt of free fabric... what else was I going to do? Not take it? Don't be ridiculous.

Eat them up, yum!

I wanted to play with my brand new icing tips... 29 of them! to create underwater, coral-esque looking shapes. Key Lime Cardamom butter cream frosting and Key Lime cake! They were then topped with toasted coconut and toasted almond slivers... and yes, they were as good as they sound!

First Post!

My good friends Jeff and Jennifer had a baby and she is, hands down, the cutest baby ever. Meet Penelope!
Jeff's mom inspired the name of my blog after leaving a note on a plate of cupcakes saying, "Cupcakes are for sharing!" I embroidered a tee shirt for Jeff- which he proudly wore despite some criticism from a co-worker, "That's a pretty lofty opinion... coming from a guy wearing an embroidered tee shirt." Fast forward several years later and I knew that Penelope was definitely going to need a cupcake shirt too. So, here it is!
